Pinterest reviews your app twice. It approves a Trial request before you get credentials, and Trial limits Pins and boards you create to sandbox visibility under daily rate limits. For production you need Standard access, which takes a second review of a demo video showing your OAuth flow and a live API call.

Why reviewed
- Tier
- You only get an app secret after Pinterest manually approves Trial access, and you need a second, video-based review for Standard access before real users can use it in production.
- Using Composio?
- Composio lists Pinterest under Composio-managed OAuth, so you can prototype without waiting for Pinterest's Trial review. Register your own app before launch so your name is on the consent screen and you control your own access tier.pinterest
Scopes

Scopes use the {entity}:read or {entity}:write form. Pinterest doesn't classify them into review tiers, but newly registered apps need extra approval to read other people's Pins and boards.

When you get stuck
4
"Please include your company name in the URL for your privacy policy" when creating the app
The privacy policy URL must be on your company's domain, and the check is strict.
FixHost the policy on your own company domain. If it still fails, contact Pinterest support by private ticket or DM, because the usual ticket form needs an App ID.
App stuck in "Trial access pending" with the app secret locked
Manual review backlog with no published turnaround time.
FixFollow the community's known-issue article for pending Trial requests and file a Help Center ticket that includes your App ID.
HTTP 403 PINNER_DATA_ACCESS_DENIED when reading a board or Pin
Apps registered on or after 2026-09-14 can only read the authorizing account's own Pins and boards without extra approval.
FixRead only the authorizing user's own data, or ask your Pinterest account manager for Pinner data access. Don't retry in a loop.
Pins created through the API aren't visible to anyone else
Under Trial access, Pins and boards are sandbox entities visible only to their creator.
FixUpgrade to Standard access.

Can Pinterest accounts other than yours authorize an app that only has Trial access?
The access-tier, sandbox and FAQ pages don't say.
ResolveAfter Trial approval, try the OAuth flow with a second business account, or ask in the Pinterest Business Community.
How long does Standard access review take?
Pinterest only says requests are reviewed regularly, and I found no dated reports from developers.
ResolveSearch community.pinterest.biz for recent upgrade-pending threads.
What are the exact Trial rate limits?
The docs say only that limits are daily per app. A third-party guide claims 1,000 requests per day, but no official source confirms it.
ResolveCheck the rate limits page on developers.pinterest.com or the response headers after you get Trial access.
How do apps without an account manager get Pinner data access?
The docs only point you to an account manager.
ResolveAsk Pinterest developer support through the Help Center.
